My painting tutorials

Over the years I have produced a range of tutorials for how I go about painting on the computer. I use only open-source programs, primarily GIMP ([link]) and MyPaint ([link]). But you might hopefully find some useful stuff here regardless of your program or platform of choice.

The tutorials range in complexity from drawing noses and sketching a character to portrait painting and designing full digital art pieces. Some of these are really quick, others you should expect to set aside a considerable amount of time to get through. They are primarily hosted on Gimptalk.com, a forum for gimp art.

I have also done full GIMP-newbie tutorials on setting up GIMP, both in general and specifically for aspiring digital artists. I also have a tutorial on combining GIMP with MyPaint, a powerful combination for painters.

These tutorials have long been available from that journal entry, but for sharing them in groups it turns out to be easier to make a proper deviation for them.
