This is a character from a very old story I wrote as a child -- a sort of half-bird creature with an attitude. Her name was Klaar Ravensagar if I remember correctly (no, it doesn't mean anything, I don't know where I got it from). Ah, the memories.

GIMP from scratch, 5 hours. Comments appreciated!

I rather love this one! The combination of the bird-creature and the environment makes me think theres some big ol' dinosaurs stompin around looking for a meal, but this little devil just chanced upon his! Great work, and the colors are fantastic

Ah, dark colors, strong lights, and deep shadows. My favorite. Klaar's expression reminds me of that of a kitten's, or young child's. It's a kind of innocent awe and wonder that helps solidify the mood of this image. I like it.
